Coast Guard conducts medevac in Gulf of Mexico

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevaced a man from the motor vessel, WBS, approximately 50-miles south of Panama City late Monday, Oct. 20, 2008.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report from Coast Guard Station Panama City at 4 p.m., reporting that a crewmember aboard the WBS contacted the Coast Guard and requested a medical evacuation for a crewmember who was experiencing chest pains.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile requested a HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter and crew from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., the 87-foot patrol boat, Coho, homeported in Panama City, and a HH-65C rescue helicopter from Air Station New Orleans.

The Jayhawk arrived on scene at approximately 8 p.m and hoisted and safely transported the manto the Panama City Airport where local EMS transported the injured crewmember to the Gulf Coast Medical Hospital.
