Coast Guard Conducts Medevac From Cruise Ship

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The U.S. Coast Guard conducted a medical transport of an 82-year-old male from the cruise ship Dawn Princess late last night.

At approximately 11 p.m. last night Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a call from the cruise ship Dawn Princess requesting assistance from the Coast Guard for an 82-year-old male who was suffering from medical complications.

The Coast Guard requested the ship divert towards Monterey Harbor, and dispatched a 47-foot motor lifeboat from Station Monterey with a paramedic on board to the ship’s location, approximately seven miles offshore.

At approximately 2 a.m. the motor lifeboat arrived on scene and successfully transferred the patient from the cruise ship.

The patient was transferred to paramedics onshore and taken to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula where he was listed in stable condition.
