Coast Guard conducts medevac from Catalina Island

11th Coast Guard District NewsSAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a 58-year-old man from Catalina Island who was reported unresponsive due to diabetic health issues while on his boat near Isthmus, Catalina Island, Aug. 12.

Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received notification of the man’s condition early Friday and launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County Lifeguards (Baywatch Isthmus) launched a boat to escort the vessel back to Isthmus Cove, where the man was tranferred to the Coast Guard helicopter from land.

The helicopter crew transported the man to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition, but unresponsive.
