Coast Guard conducts cliff rescue training

LOS ANGELES – Members of Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu conducted cliff rescue training at Point Vicente Lighthouse March 21, 2017. The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crews conducted several hoist scenarios including rescuing a mannequin from a cliff face.

During the past several weeks, Forward Operating Base Point Mugu aircrews have been working with Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department units for joint cliff rescue training. In addition to LAFD and LASD, Coast Guard air crews are another tier in vertical surface rescue.
