Coast Guard civilian retires after 44 years of federal service

CAPE MAY, N.J. – Billie Clymer, a purchasing technician at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May will retire Monday June 2, 2008 at 11 a.m., in front of the training center’s administration building after 44 years of dedicated service to the federal government, including nearly 25 years of service to the Coast Guard.

Clymer, a North Cape May resident, began her career as a secretary for the U.S. Department of the Navy working with the U.S. Marine Corps at Quantico, Va. While employed with the Marine Corps, for 15 years, she received numerous awards expressing their gratitude and recognizing here outstanding performance. Upon her arrival at Training Center Cape May, Clymer immediately pursued a new career and became a purchasing technician.

According to Cmdr. Dan Allman her division officer, “Clymer was a positive influence and a tremendous teacher for all the civilian and military personnel she worked with.”
