Coast Guard, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement continues to respond to oil platform fire

BSEE LogoNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) continued to respond to the oil platform fire in the Gulf of Mexico, Thursday.

A fire team on the platform reported that the fire was out and no leaking gas was detected.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report, Wednesday, at 1:20 a.m. that Shell Enchilada platform was on fire approximately 112 nautical miles south of Vermilion Bay, Louisiana.

There have been no additional reports of pollution.

BSEE and the Coast Guard are jointly investigating the cause of the incident.
