Coast Guard assists injured man north of Kauai.

HONOLULU — A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point medically evacuated an injured man this morning 70 miles north of Kauai.

The Coast Guard received a call from the fishing vessel’s crew at 7:15 a.m. Monday concerning a 30-year-old male crewmember who injured his finger on a tackle block aboard the fishing vessel Isabella T.

A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended the crewmembers of the Isabella T tend to the man’s injury while awaiting the Coast Guard rescue crew.

The injured man was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Kauai.
