Coast Guard assisting disabled fishing boat to port

1st Coast Guard District NewsBOSTON – The Coast Guard Cutter Grand Isle is towing a 38-foot fishing vessel to Provincetown, Mass., after it became disabled about 23 miles north of Provincetown, June 7, 2011.

The Grand Isle, homeported in Gloucester, Mass., began towing the Provincetown-based Knot A Care after Coast Guard Sector Boston received notification at 5:30 p.m., that the vessel’s crew was unable to start the engines and the boat was drifting into Boston Harbor traffic lanes.

Sector Boston crewmembers issued a broadcast requesting any mariners in the area to assist, but did not receive any responses.

The current on scene weather is 5-15 knot winds, 2-4 foot seas and four miles of visibility.

The pair is expected in port early Thursday morning.
