Coast Guard Airlifts 2 After High Speed Collision

NEW ORLEANS- A Coast Guard aircrew airlifted two injured recreational fishermen today, after their boat collided with another boat on the Atchafalaya River north of Morgan City.

Coast Guard rescue swimmer Aaron Harvey was lowered to the scene and administered first aid to all four men involved in the crash. One man sustained a lacerated hand and a shoulder injury and another suffered head trauma. Both men were hoisted from the nearby tugboat Anne Blake and delivered in stable condition to Thibodaux Regional Hospital.

Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City reported the accident and a helicopter from Air Station New Orleans was diverted from another search and rescue case to respond.

The incident is currently under investigation.
