Coast Guard Airlfts Injured Girl

BOSTON — An Air Station Cape Cod HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter transfered an injured ten-year-old girl from Bourne, Mass., to Boston for advanced medical treatment today, about 5:30 p.m.

The girl was in a jet ski accident near Wareham, Mass. and brought to Tobey Hospital, where a doctor requested the Coast Guard transfer her to Massachusetts General Hospital for advanced care.

“We had an available helicopter and were one of the best options for a hospital to hospital transfer,” said Lt. Pat Petraca, of the First District Operations Center. “The flight only takes about 20 minutes, so we knew we could get the little girl help very quickly.”
