NEW YORK — A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City made a precautionary emergency landing Sunday.

The helicopter was experiencing mechanical issues when the four-person crew made the decision to land at Richmond Country Club in Staten Island, New York.

“Our flight mechanic smelled something,” said Elise Roberts, the helicopter pilot who flew the mission. “We were setting up for a precautionary landing when we started losing equipment and decided we needed to land immediately.”

All members of the helicopter crew are safe.
