Coast Guard aids in search for missing children near Dauphin Island, AL

DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. – A Coast Guard crew searches near the Dauphin Island bridge for four missing children here Wednesday.

Three flat bottom Coast Guard boats from Sector Mobile, along with a 25-foot response boat crew from Station Dauphin Island, the Coast Guard Cutter Saginaw, and an HH-60 rescue helicopter crew from ATC Mobile joined search and rescue teams from Mobile County Sheriff’s Department, Mobile County Sheriff’s Flotilla, Bayou LaBatre Police Department, the Dauphin Island Police Department, and several other local and state authorities in the search for the children, which range in ages from 4 months to 3 years old.

The children’s father reportedly threw the children from the bridge on Monday. Coast Guard and local authorities searched more than 100 square miles and will resume the search Thursday at first light.
