Clearwater Coast Guard Medevacs Man from Tampa Cruise Ship
TAMPA, Fla. - Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., medevaced an 80-year-old man at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday from the 915-foot cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas, homeported in Tampa.
Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., received a call from the cruise ship at 4:24 p.m., reporting that passenger, Caesar Reyes, hometown unknown, was suffering from heart-attack-like symptoms.
The Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter arrived on scene at 5:35 p.m., lowered a rescue swimmer to the Grandeur of the Seas, safely hoisted Reyes to the helicopter and transported him to Tampa General Hospital at 6:14 p.m.
