Charleston Coast Guard medically evacuates 29-year-old man from recreational fishing vessel

CHARLESTON, S. C. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 29-year-old male from the recreational fishing vessel Wendy Anne approximately 45-miles southeast of Folly Beach, Tuesday.

Operational watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a call at 7:12 a.m., Tuesday, from the owner of the Wendy Anne, requesting medical assistance for a passenger who was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms.

At 7:24 am. Coast Guard Sector Charleston launched an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston. The crew arrived on scene at 8:11 a.m., safely hoisted the passenger, and transported him to the Medical University of South Carolina.

The patient was reported in stable condition.
