CGNewsTip: Contractors Defend Ship Modernization (Forbes)

Forbes has an article about the Commandant, Lockheed and Northrop appearing before the House today.

Executives from Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. on Tuesday fended off congressional criticism of their roles in running the Coast Guard’s multibillion-dollar fleet modernization program, while the agency’s top officer promised more effective oversight.

The modernization program, dubbed Deepwater, “is essential to the Coast Guard’s future,” Commandant Adm. Thad Allen told a House subcommittee. “In many ways it is the Coast Guard’s future. We have to get it right.”
