Boat Capsizes and Sinks Near Warrenton

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard is responding to a trawler that capsized and sank into the water near Warrenton, Ore., today.

Coast Guard Sector Portland received a call from the fishing vessel Endeavor that the 30-foot fishing vessel Apache IV from Aberdeen, Wash., had capsized with one person aboard at approximately 5:12 a.m.

The man on board the vessel managed to swim clear of the boat before it sank and was taken aboard the Endeavor.

There are approximately 200 gallons of diesel fuel on the Apache IV. No sheening or other signs of pollution have been spotted, but the vessel is a hazard to navigation. Coast Guard Sector Portland is sending investigators to the scene.
