Alaska Regional Response Team holding public meeting in Anchorage

Alaska Regional Response Team logoKODIAK, Alaska – The Coast Guard and the Environmental Protection Agency would like to invite the participation of Alaskans for the Alaska Regional Response Team meeting between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Anchorage Feb. 24, 2011.

The ARRT meeting is scheduled to take place in the Adventure room of the Captain Cook Hotel. It is open for in house participation and available via teleconference for interested parties outside of Anchorage.

The response team was established under the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan. It is responsible for developing regional contingency plans to coordinate timely and effective response by various federal agencies and other organizations to discharges of oil or releases of hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants.

The Coast Guard and the EPA view participation by the public and other stakeholders as a critical step in the success of the overall spill response planning and preparedness process in Alaska.
