Aircrew shows sick kids how they complete their mission

The Coast Guard and the Los Angeles County Fire Department – Baywatch Marina Del Rey crews teamed up with Koru Care, a New Zealand organization that provides assistance to kids with terminal illnesses or permanent disabilities, to make the event happen.

Nearly 40 kids were treated to a tour of Coast Guard facilities, a boat ride on either a Baywatch boat or the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut, and a helicopter rescue demonstration performed by an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Los Angeles.

During the middle portion of the demonstration, the helicopter’s rescue swimmer swam over to the boats and met with the children.
