45-year-old man medevaced by Coast Guard near Crystal River, Fla.

ST. PETERBURG, Fla. — A 45-year-old man was medevaced by a Coast Guard crew approximately 40 miles west of Crystal River, Thursday.

The captain of the 37-foot commercial fishing boat The Scamp, contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders at 12:30 p.m., reporting the man was suffering from chest pains but was conscious and alert.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital in good condition.
