3 people rescued by good Samaritan, Coast Guard crew near Sand Key, Fla.

SAND KEY, Fla. — Three people were rescued by a good Samaritan and a crew from Coast Guard Station Sand Key after one jet ski they were aboard sank and one became disabled one mile south of Anclote Key, Florida, Monday.

A person aboard the sailing vessel Enterprise contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Florida watchstanders via VHF-FM channel 16 radio at 6:09 p.m., reporting one jet ski with its bow sticking out of the water and a person in the water yelling for help. He also reported another jet ski with two people aboard, which was disabled.

A good Samaritan aboard the fishing vessel Reel Mojo heard the urgent marine information broadcast and was able to arrive on scene and recover one person in the water and transfer him to the 25-foot Response Boat — Small crew from Coast Guard Station Sand Key after the RBS crew recovered the two people on the disabled jet ski.

All three people were transported back to the station.
