Six people rescued after accident on Coast Guard cutter

SEATTLE — Six Coast Guard members are now safe after a smallboat from the Seattle based Coast Guard Cutter Polar Sea fell into the water at Point Wilson near Port Townsend, Wash., today.

PORTLAND, Maine- Coast Guard crews in Maine are preparing for ice-breaking missions on the Kennebec and Penobscot Rivers in the coming weeks.

Search Suspended for Teen Swept Off Beach

SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for a teen swept off a beach near Davenport, Calif., after he was reported missing early this morning.

Oil removal from grounded Mar-Gun continues

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Responders continue efforts to remove fuel from the grounded 112-foot fishing vessel Mar-Gun on St. George Island Monday. Approximately 2,313 gallons of diesel were lightered from the vessel’s port tanks Sunday and another 1,500 had been removed by 3 p.m. today. Work will contiue until dusk.

Coast Guard Cutter Participates in Exercise Aman 2009, Visits Pakistan

MANAMA, Bahrain – The Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell departed Karachi, Pakistan, today after a four-day port visit to participate in the international naval exercise Aman 2009, marking the first time a U.S. Ship has pulled into Pakistan since May 2008.
