Coast Guard investigating Vermont ferry accident

GRAND ISLE, Vt. – The Coast Guard is working to determine what caused a 207-foot Burlington, Vt. – based ferry to strike a pier here at 5:20 p.m. today, causing injury to passengers and crew.

Coast Guard rescues, returns 242 Haitian migrants to Port-au-Prince, Haiti

MIAMI – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence returned 242 Haitian migrants to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Thursday after the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Seneca located a grossly overloaded 50-foot sail freighter about 25 miles west of Ile de la Tortue, Haiti, Monday night.

Coast Guard reports high compliance rate in advance of TWIC enforcement

Alaska State Ferry breaks free from mooring, aground

JUNEAU, Alaska – The Alaska State Ferry Lituya, a 180-foot motor vessel home ported in Metlakatla, Alaska, broke loose from its moorings at the ferry pier in Metlakatla and is reported aground one mile north on Scrub Island, Alaska, in Port Chester at 1 a.m. Friday.
