Heating oil barge runs aground near City Island, NY

NEW YORK-A barge carrying more than 5 million gallons of home heating oil reportedly struck an unknown object and began taking on water near City Island, N.Y., at approximately 2:30 p.m., today.

Coast Guard repatriates 61 Haitian migrants

Coast Guard Cutter Alert returns home to Astoria today

SEATTLE – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Alert will return to their homeport in Astoria, Ore., Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
While on a routine patrol in the Eastern Pacific, the crew of the Alert successfully interdicted a Self-Propelled Semi-Submersible vessel (SPSS) laden with approximately 5,000 kg. of cocaine.
